Sonepur fair(Harihar Kshetra Mela), 2015
Sonepur fair(Harihar Kshetra Mela), 2015, inaugurated by Bihar tourism minister Anita Devi on 23rd November. Sonepur fair is Asia’s biggest cattle fair. This fair also known as Harihar Kshetra Mela. In this fair many types of cattle are sold. Apart from cattle, other product like winter wear clothes, daily used product are sold here.
Many exhibition are organized by state government’s department. The main attraction for young man is theatre, where girls performance dance.This year on the opening day, a show organized by Paryatan Vibhag, famous singer Udit Narayan performed in this show. Udit Narayan use Bhojpuri language while communicating at this event. He sung many songs, starting with “Papa kahte hai beta naam karega..”.
The road bridge between Hajipur and sonepur remain closed from 24th to 26th Nov. Expecting 3 to 5 Lakhs people will come to take bath in Narayani (Gandak) river on the occasion of kartik purnima. People also visit Harihar Nath temple and offer holly water to Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Har (Lord Shankar).
Amusement park, death of well also attract people in this fair. Many foreign people also visit this fair. Tourism department created cottage, all cottage are already booked.
