Patang Umang-2016, Patna

On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Patang Umang-2016 celebrated at historical Gandhi Maidan. The festival started at 11:00 am and ended at 5 in the evening, people competed in two competitions. First competition for Kite flying for the maximum duration and second competition for the most beautiful kites. Top three winners awarded by the district administration.

In the category of best kite flyer, Yuvraj Singh bagged the first prize followed by Prashant Sawant and Shubham Raj who got the second prize. Abhishek Prakash got third prize. Nandan Kumar got a special prize in kite-making category. Nandan had painted a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi on his kite. Puja Kumari and Ankit were given prizes for their performance in an on-the-spot dance competition

Patna Divisional Commissioner Anand Kishore was very happy about it. Kishore himself had asked people to come to Gandhi Maidan and attend the Festival. This was the first time this festival organized at Gandhi Maidan, the state tourism is organizing the Kite Festival in Sabalpur Ganga Diara (a land across the Ganga River near Sabalpur) since 2011.
